I have the same problem and it appears by doing a view source on the shoutbox that it IS using the same .css file as the rest of my site but it is picking up some strange colors and fonts and font sizes. See it here:

http://www.sleightgeek.com/phpBB2/index.php

Interesting that the shoutbox max is perfectly integrated with the theme...

I've read all the help here and still don't have a clue.

What can I do?

I installed the shoutbox and its not working with the theme. Well, the index.php part isnt. The shoubox is white and text is basic arial. i am not using a different theme. It is a color changed subsilver.

I tried the fix with no result.

when doing a view source from the shoutbox it shows this in the code

Code: Select all
<body bgcolor="" text="" link="" vlink="">

so its not registering the .css

Found my problem. Its not my site, so i didn't make that particular theme. When whoever did it, the failed to input the subSilver.css into the theme config. It was something i should have found yesterday.

I've got a question too - not the same like this but it's a problem.

??? Shoutbox (installed per EM) and other templates ???

My shoutbox is onl running in subsylver-style.
Before my ftp crashed the shoutbox is running in every style.
Its installed succesfuly - in subsylver you can see the sb, but in any other style there is no way.

??? whats the problem ???

My board started almost a year ago, shoutbox worked on 3 of 4 templates...so I decided to leave that template alone without shoutbox. My users rushed me to enter the shoutbox there too like 4 months ago. At index everything was white, different font, etc... a mess.

I ve been reading this thread hundreds of times trying to figure WTH the problem is. Did the "view source" thing, and unfortunatelly in this particular template (XP2) I could not find the last command that neils advices. So I gave up and left this shoutbox white.

Until today by accident I decided to go inside the ACP to the Styles Administration, Managment, in order to see if I´m able to edit some colors you know...just for fun in my test board. Well, revised all of themsomething catched my attention. In Xp2 template the value for "stylesheet.css" was set like this...templates/phpXp2/phpXp2.css. Instead of being like the other templates values with the template.css flat without the whole extension. I edited leaving only phpXp2.css in the value.

Went back to Board preview and Shoutbox looks wonderfully

A simple thing can make a whole difference, I was ready to shoot myself LOL.

I cant do a viewsource, I guess my security stuff is set high,

Instead of right click, you may instead use the menu.
go to "View" -> "View source"
This should bring up the HTML source.
