Links Don't Show and very buggy

Postby jtp10181 on Sat 24. Jan, 2004 17:30

i have managed to add some links but they wont show up on the links page.... it just says there are none.

ALso if you add a 2 categories and then try to add sub categories you can only add it to the second category.... very badd interface IMO. Same thing goes with links, you can only add them to the newest category.

AM I missing something or is it really this bad?

UPDATE: I found out if i manually edit the MySQL DB and change the "active" flag on a link to 1 then it will show.... but its still really ugly and it would be cool to have descriptions and functionality...

This mode should be Alpha and noted "WARNING THIS MOD DOES NOT REALLY WORK"

It has good potential but it is far from being release to the masses quality.

It makes common sence a link will not show, before ADMIN (you) have finished modifying it....this is the reasoon why a link is hidden, until admin deside to "activate" it :)

e.g. you create a link (by this point, you have not assigned any URL, so it is useless) the link will be created as hidden - then you edit the newly created link from ACP -> "link management" -> "edit link"
and move it to the correct category or subcategory, and also fill a redirect URL - if you need it, you may modify witch userlevel should see the link.
Finally when you as admin are satisfy, you may "activate" the link, so it becomes visible to the puplic.

hope this clearifys why all links by default are hidden - there is no need to manual entering the DB, this can be done from the included interface.

Asfar about this mod's development status, I develop all mods for free - or some for a minor donation.
e.g. links mod, is developped due to a donation, and a request to make sutch mod.
as I recall I got 20 or 30$ for developing this MOD - try figure out how meny hours of work you can do for that ammount (1 hour in denmark). - then multiply this amount with 10 and you have the time (10 hours) I have spend on this.
so you might have a point, this mod could be improved, witch is also true for meny of my other MODs, sadly I have a life, and can not use all my time on developing MOD's  so you have to settel with less.
(if a how-to is EM ready, it will mostly be bullet prof, since a machine is more picky than a human. :D)
