Global Announce Path?

Postby jupro on Tue 25. Jan, 2005 22:49

Hi there,

When you post a global announcement, it doesn't matter which forum you access the global announcement from, the navigation links near the top of the page say you are viewing a message from the forum you originally placed the global announcement in.

For instance:

I go into "MODS.DB9.DK.Forum Index -> Global announcement [2.0.6/EM]", and click on one of the global announcements, the top naviagation links will read:

"MODS.DB9.DK.Forum Index -> Announcements & reference articles"

Is there a way to avoid this?

Is it possible for the navigation links to remain in whichever forum you accessed the global announcement from? That way you could click on the link to return to your original forum rather than going back to the forum index page.

Thanks very much.

it is partly posible....
in the header of the mod, I have given a "full" describption of the use

If you wish to assign special rigths to the global announcement,
## then you may costumice the constants.php , change the value of
## HIDDEN_CAT witch a category id,. This category is hidden to all
## except ADMIN inside this category, make a forum with a empty
## name, and post the global announcement here that way preventing
## the users to se the forum, where the global announcement is posted
## make this forum "view_auth" ALL and "read_auth" ALL, all
## other settings are up to you (in current version of phpbb2,
## you can't create a forum without a name, but you can
## change/delete the name after it is created ! )

if you follow this, your global announcement, will (when viewed by regular users) seam to be in "no" forum
(if a how-to is EM ready, it will mostly be bullet prof, since a machine is more picky than a human. :D)

Hiya -
I've the same "difficulties" as jupro

I created a new categors, deleted the category name and then created a new forum section and deleted the name as well. Authorisation for this is *view* ALL and *read* ALL ... the rest is ADMIN.

So far so good ... I can post a global announcement and everybody can read it.

Now I tried to change /include/constants.php

But there my problem start (sigh)
a) I can't find HIDDEN_CAT and
b) if it's there, what kind of ID do I use?

regards
Nym

solved the problem (YES!!!!!)
silly me looked at my local constants.php and not at the server file.
Everything works brilliant. Thanks for a great MOD
Hell was full - so they sent me back here!
