[Insight] how to bring your forums and header back!

This mod will make it posible to specify permissions to all "special pages, like MEMBERLIST, PROFILE VIEW and so on.
The permissions support USERGROUP, making this tool very powerfull

[Insight] how to bring your forums and header back!

All affected::

I have been installing and removing this mod, trashing my boards, wiping my db, and starting over and over again making all my members very unhappy...

i had extra permissions and shoutbox installed and operating just fine (version 1.0.0) and attempting to install the SUB Forums Mod totally caned my board (Grrr...)

By the time i started over, the extra permissions mod had advanced to it's current state.

i couldn't get it to work... not without seemingly wiping my forums and header links...

i read this entire forum three times and tried something that worked!

here's what i learned:

what is not at all clear in the install text is that simply installing this mod (manually, or with em) will actually block any access to the index php and everything below the basic logged out status icons (ie: Faq etc...)

what needs to be explained much more clearly is that you MUST also install the additional database updater

"add_perm_db_update.php"

this will bring your index and overall_header.tpl back to use, and in the acp you will be able to set the level of permissions.

further, if you want to apply these special permissions to other pages, there is code you must add into your pages. sadly, language and translation barriers here have made it almost impossible for me to determine exactly what that code is.

but the main thing is that i now have my forums and links back!

try that, and i hope you do to.

best

Weee
Thank you very much...
I read the Mod instructions for 20 times i think. I didn't really know what to do with the add_perm_db_update.php, because it was in that stupid example folder.
But now it seems to work.

here's the best example of how to best exploit this mod for making other parts of the board subject to levels of permission:

glad my discovery helped out!
