This mod will make it posible to specify permissions to all "special pages, like MEMBERLIST, PROFILE VIEW and so on.
The permissions support USERGROUP, making this tool very powerfull

[Solved] How about group permission

Postby MacGyver on Thu 15. May, 2003 12:48

Dear Niels,

I've just installed your Extra Permission MOD, did some testing on it. The forumauth is working fine. However if I set the auth to group viewing only, I couldn't set group auth from the group auth cp. I think this part of the code is not changed in the how-to.

Any chance of updating this part?

Thanks

~Mac

the admin_ug_auth.php should not need to be modifyed, it should work with-out.

try explain more detailed what you have done and what does not working
e.g. what does this mean "I set the auth to group viewing only"
does you say, that you have set your "MEMBERLIST" to Auth = PRIVATE
and when you say you can't "set group auth from the group auth cp", does you say that you can't see the "MEMBERLIST" forum ?, or can you just not save settings or what ??

pleae try be more specific, tell me how you have set it up, and what function that does not work, it will help

Sorry, more detailed info:

Forum Permission Control:
Forum: memberlist
Simple Mode: Private (group viewing)

Group Permissions Control
Select a group, Permission: Allowed Access to memberlist
Click Submit, go back and check permission, Still Disallowed Access
Try to use Advance mode, still no change.
The group is unable to view memberlist

User Permissions Control
Select user, Permission: Allowed Access to memberlist
Click Submit, go back and check permission, Still Disallowed Access
Try to use Advance mode, still no change.
The user is unable to view memberlist

That's all the test I've done. Is there anyone who also has this problem?

thanks - you are doing it correctly, it is some time ago I did made this mod, and the how-to was made some time after, so I migth have left some code out by mistake (should not have done). To be shure I haven't done this, please try email me your admin_ug_auth.php file. I will then see if your file give same problem if used here on mods.db9.dk - as far as I recall this file did not needed to be modifyed, but I could be wrong

another reasoon why this would not work, would be if your DB changes have not been done prober, but since the memberlist is showing, I asume it's allrigth (some of the DB fields are changed from unsigned to signed)

Thanks Niels,

I will e-mail you my admin_ug_auth.php shortly, however, I am sure it's been modified for other MODs (can't really remember whicj ones), so I wasn't sure if it's a good thing to do by putting onto this forum for testing.

If you need any other files, please let me know. Cheers

I have now testing your file, you are though right I could not use it directly due to the mods you did have in it.
so I did un-installed
the LASS ADMIN mod, Callendar mod and forum sort mod
after doing so I could use your file, witchout any problems, I was able to update group permission ofr the page "MEMBERLIST"

I excpect your problem is maybe related to the forum sort mod, you could trye un-install this mod and see it does solve your problem, but I'm not shure

Dear Niels,

Hi, just as you've suggested, there is a conflict between this two MODs, and now the permission setting works fine.

Please add in this note regarding the conflict bettwen Extra Permissions and Forum Sort in Auth Panel Config (By Ptirhiik) in the How-To, so that other users may know this. Thanks you
