For those of you wanting to simplify the registration page it can be done simply by using this in your profile_add_body.tpl

Whichever fields that you put between these is invisible to people that are registering... Once logged in they will see the whole form.

This seems to be a less mod intensive than the other solutions

You are absolutly rigth.

how-ever there is both advanges and dis-advanges in my and the phpbb2 way.

phpbb2 offer a simple way to remove some fields from the reg/edit page
how ever makeing a completly new template file will give more freedom to design your registration page.

it all depends on your need
anyway I'm only happy you share this information, as some users may not need to modify the reg form very muth

That is sooooooooo smart. My friends were too lazy to register, because the optional fields are intimidating since the make it all look so long!!

This is smart!

Once your loged in the registration button goes away, and if you go to yoursite.com/phpBB_root/profile.php?mode=register it says your username is already taken if your loged in first.
