I want to create an area where adult jokes can be posted, and I want to restrict it via age.

I know they can prob go in at a later date and change this - but one of those things..

but if they are under 18 they cannot have access to this area? can it be done?

Technically, no, because anyone could lie about their age. I do have an adult section on my forum though, and the only people allowed in there are people I've become friends with and I know how old they are, and I always ask someone's age before I even let them know the adult section exists. Even then, though, the possiblity exists that someone is still lying, but you take your chances.

And upon re-reading your question, I don't think this is what you were asking. I don't know, I can't even get people's profile edit pages to show up.
