auto grouping at registation...

Postby LucidParody on Sun 22. Dec, 2002 08:48

is there any way to get around the fact that you have to post in another forum before you're alloud to post in an auto group forum? is there no way to get users to be auto grouped at registration or maybe even when they log in or something like that?

Yes no problem, you may as admin define when users are added into any group if you like

I have here on mods.db9.dk made it so (for demonstation) that you should post (e.g. inside the test froum) to gain acess to this froum.

how-ever on your own site, you can set this as you like in the ACP, there are no limitations other than your fantasy - any post count can be defined into any group, so you ask if users can be added when they register, simply make a group and set it to "0" posts required - that way all users wil be a member of that group - they can then unsubscibe if they would like to

am i just not seeing the edit button or is there no edit button for posts on these forums?

umm, also, when a new user registers, until they go to their profile and update it, it makes the times on the board messed up (all the see is a -6 in every place where there should be a time)...

Ok thats perfect, but what about when the unsubscribe and you don't want them to get back in once they've been booted out or unsubscribed?

Is there anyway to do this?

as long as a user meet the requirements for joining a group, then they can re-join the group, also after they have unsubscribed

e.g. if a closed group have min post = 10 and max post 20
then ONLY users with post between 10 and 20 are members, and if a user unsubscribe, they can re-jopin as long as they have postcount between 10 and 20...
(manually adjusting the users postcount to 9 or 21 will temporary prevent the user from re-join sutch usergroup)

if the usergroup is OPEN, then can manually join at any postcount
(if a how-to is EM ready, it will mostly be bullet prof, since a machine is more picky than a human. :D)

similiar

This sounds similar to what I need.

When registering, I want to make each person enter in the state that they reside in. They will then be automatically put into that states group after registering.

This is going to be for a band street team and we need to have everyone separated based on their region... that way we can communicate with only those in the area of the show when we need to.

Is this possible?
